China Also Expels Burmese Illegals

Last October found Ruili, Mongmao in Shan, the bustling border town across from Muse, Northern Shan State, forcibly deporting Burmese illegals from the Chinese territory.

Tens of thousands of Burmese, many of whom had stayed in Ruili, Yunnan Province, for nearly ten years, were forced to repatriate after increasing reports of theft overwhelmed the Chinese police.

"The last straw was the disappearance of 5 police motorcycles in one single night in early October", said Haw Maohurng from Lashio.

"Since then, most Burmese have been allowed to stay only for one day, from morning until evening, but they can go back the next day if they want to", he added.
