Chins Ratifies Shan-Kachin Pact

Today the Chin delegation, led by U Hlur Hmung of Falam, signed their approval to the Shan-Kachin agreement reached the previous day. 

The Chins also agreed that they would achieve independence sooner if all, including Burma, joined hands together and that the future 'confederation' should guarantee equal rights, autonomy, joint responsibility in common subjects and the right to secede. 

The addition was that the financial rights and privileges enjoyed by Shans also be extended to the Chins and Kachins 'on a population basics'. Aung San had promise, "If will be a 'Burmese one kyat, Shan one kyat' basis". 
A 6-men committee was also formed and given full powers for the purpose of negotiating with Aung San in accordance with the terms of the 6-7 February agreements. 

It was made up of the following persons: Khun Kya Bu (Shan), Sao Sam Htun Mongpawn (Shan), Sinwa Naw (Kachin), Zau Lawn (Kachin), Hlur Hmung (Chin) and Thawng Za Khup (Chin).
