Fire in northern Shan State

Sources from the Chinese border confirmed that the market in Lashio, northern Shan State's capital, was consumed by fire on Christmas day. 

It began at 20:00 hrs. last night until this morning. Losses were not known but estimated to be billions of kyat. 

Monastery in Mongyawn burned down 

The Buddhist temple in Mongyawn, Monghsat township, was reduced to ashes on 12 December when some Wa soldiers put a torch to it. It was not known whether the cause was the dispute between Buddhist Wa and Christian Wa or between the Wa newcomers and the Shan locals.
