Forced labor in Muse 

On 13 March, IB 312 of Panghsai Township, issued order to villages in the area to give a hand in building barracks at Lawn-In village. People from Namhsawn, Kawng-Kharng, Kengyang and Nampan agreed they had to work 3-days free of wage. 


USDA joins Shan literacy campaign?

Since schools closed at the end of February, the annual Shan literacy campaign launched by Shan literature and culture societies have resumed. 

This year's surprise, particularly in Bhamo Township (Kachin State), next to Namkham Township (Shan State), is that the junta-sponsored Union Solidarity and Development Association, supposedly a non-political setup, has been directed to take part as observers as well as students. 

"Zaeng Kham Leng", an annual Shan magazine, reported that the campaign last year involved 27,329 students and 685 volunteer-instructors in 14 townships.
