On 28 April, heavy winds hit the coast in Ma-ubin district, Irrawaddy Division, southwest of Rangoon.

A number of fishing boats were damaged and lost, said workers who were hired to construct fish ponds in the area. A number of homes in villages including Payagon and Paya-gyi were also devastated.

This has yet to be reported by the state media, wrote Chai Sayam from Tachilek.

Xinhua reported on 4 May Burma is in the process of strengthening its public information work about natural disasters.
