The Woven Buddha
The first Buddha image woven was recorded to be in 1338, known by Shans as Phra Inn Hsarn (The Buddha woven by Indra, Lord of the Heavens). It is at the village of Mong Noong in Mongkhark township, Eastern Shan State.
The Phra Inn Hsarn at Panglong, where the 1947 treaty between Aung San and non-Burman leaders was signed, as shown here was constructed on 23 February 2005 and completed on 24 March 2005. The craftsman is Sai Oon of Hwe Lin Lam village, Tachilek, opposite Maesai.
Other Phra Inn Hsarns built by him can be located at Shan monasteries in Rangoon, Moulmein and Colombo.
