Visiting junta PM’s destination off-limits to the media
Maximum security has been “bestowed” to Prime Minister Thein Sein and his entourage, who are on a 3-day visit to the kingdom, and the media has been barred from traveling to Doi Tung in Chiangrai, where he is expected to arrive tomorrow.
Security has particularly tightened following the discovery of explosives with
remote control circuit in Chiangmai, 180 km southwest of Chiangrai, on 25 April, 4
days before Gen Thein Sein’s trip, according to some security officials.

are also surprised by today’s issue of Bangkok Post, where the caption to a
snapshot of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravaj talking to his Burmese counterpart
ends with a photo credit which reads “Government House Photo.” According to a
newsman, it was “indeed a rare treat.”
Doi Tung Development Foundation, founded by the late Princess Mother HRH Sri Sangwal,
is located near the border where the anti-junta Shan State Army (SSA) of Col
Yawd Serk is active.
“Of course, we know Yawd Serk has given assurance we need not worry,” said an
official asking anonymity. “But it doesn’t mean we should take our chance.”
