Visual Points: Ad Carabao in Loi Taileng
Song for life singer Yeunyong Ophakul, better known as Ad Carabao, came to grace the 61st anniversary ceremony marking what is now designated as Shan State National Day, commemorating the day when the people of Shan States and their leaders joined hands together in the struggle against British colonialism.
Ad
was reportedly looking for a hero among Shans. In 2001, when the Thai-Burmese
relations went low ebb, he discovered in the Shan State Army (SSA) South leader
Yawdserk what he was looking for.
