The Amazing Pasture Development Project

In order to improve the quality of pasture for cattle breeding, the SPDC ordered a shipment of foreign grass, known by the locals simply as Japanese grass, imported.

At first, the people were quite happy, because the grass spread out quite rapidly and it was suitable for grazing.

However, as time went by, the grass began to upset people by making them itchy and cutting their skins with its sharp edges.

"Worse still, during the dry season when forest fires are apt to occur, the Japanese grass rather helps the fire to destroy the forests so quickly", complained a local farmer in Shan State.
