National Convention And Genocide continue in junta's Burma

By Mr Mats Henriksson

On 18 July SPDC´s National Convention started its final session, with tighter security than the previous session. Foreign journalists were not present, and fewer diplomats than before were seen, why?

It´s high risk for that the new constitution will guarantee a major role for the military in Burma's political future and prolong the military dictatorship!
For sure Burma's military generals are not interested to handle over the power to a democratic elected government.

The same day the UN Secretary General Ban Ki - Moon issued a blunt reminder to the SPDC's junta regarding the importance of including opposition representatives in a true participatory process.

To seize this opportunity to ensure that this and subsequent steps in Burma's political roadmap are as inclusive participatory and transparent as possible.
With a view to allowing all the relevant parties, to Burma's national reconciliation process to fully contribute to defending their countries future.

But when the final convention started, the SPDC´s forces' oppression of the population were ongoing as always since the year of 1962, why should SPDC change their strategy ?

Since the "hawks" in the army took the power in the internal coup on 18 October 2004 SPDC has sent more and more of occupation forces to the Karen-,Karenni- and Shan States. Particularly in the Karen State the SPDC ´s forces continue to commit their largescale and brutal ethnic cleansing operations.

In its attempt to completely dominate or drive out the oppressed civilian population from their homes, villages and even out of the Karen State.

If the SPDC´s forces don´t have not enough units for their genocidal actions, the junta troops can count on their ally the DKBA ( Democratic Karen Buddist Army ).

SPDC has supported a more aggressive DKBA role, with the SPDC´s political, financial and military backing.

DKBA has sought to expand its numbers, strengthen its position and eradicate the KNU/KNLA presence particularly in the Thaton District.

DKBA committing the same kind of human rights abuses as the SPDC´s forces are doing. Which is  looting, forced labor, land confiscation, extortion, restriction of movements, torture, interrogation, detention, force men to be soldiers and more.

The Thaton,Papun,Dooplaya and Nyaunglebin districts are the most effected areas of SPDC and DKBA´s ongoing operations this year.

The brave freedom fighters, the real soldiers in the KNU and KNLA resist the joint SPDC/DKBA`s forces actions the best they are able to do.

In June 3 army battalions from the Arakan State were relocated to Karen State to increase the pressure on the already oppressed State.

In Karen State May 2007 in Takehdr village where Burma army troops of the 5 th Military Operations Command are active, soldiers raped 2 women 18 and 22 years old Burmese troops were not satisfied with "just" to rape the women they also cut their ears and their breasts, then the women was killed.

" In the name of God what kind of human behavior is this ? "

The answer is that the facist generals in Naypyidaw has sexual abuses and killings of innocent girls and women as their strategy!

In March 2007 the Womens League of Chinland, released the report " UNSAFE STATE " on state-sanctioned sexual violance against Chin women in Burma. When I read the 33 pages report, I was very sad and upset.

Even with my experience of 9 missions in UN and NATO forces in countries as Lebanon, Bosnia and Croatia, and in the 6 years I have closely follow the conditions in Burma. Every time I receive information on SPDC´s human rights abuses/warcrimes I feel sick.

I have never understood why the so called "soldiers" in the Tatmadaw are wearing military uniforms, the appropriate dress for those genocidal murders is the " Butchers dress ".

Particularly in the 3 ethnic minority states along the east Burmese border, the Karen-Karenni and Shan States. The final goal for the dictatorship regime seems to be to slaughter out the minority population.

But for sure the armed resistance in those states, the SSA-S (Shan State Army South) KNPP (Karenni National Progressive Party ) and KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) will never ever let that happen.

They are defending their mother countries and protecting the population.
As Colonel Yawd Serk the commander of the SSA-S said " the only way for the ethnic minority states to gain freedom, liberty and independence is to use the armed resistance ". We agree with you on that statement, Sir.

The international community watches Burma closely, particularly the US government. Hopefully some day the patience will be over.

The world must send a very clear signal to the junta generals in Naypyidaw, that the human rights violations cannot be tolerated, also that it´s high time for democracy in Burma.

It´s time for the international community to take actions strong enough against the SPDC.
