A patrol from Mongton township’s Nakawngmu-based Infantry Battalion 65, in search of a deserter, ran into a Shan State Army (SSA) patrol between 11:00-12:00 this morning. The exchange of fire between the two sides ceased after IB 65 informed the SSA of its mission. No casualty on either side reported. This is the first clash that took place after the SSA-Union Peacemaking Work Committee (UPWC) meeting in Kengtung on 19 May. (SHAN)
