Former minor spooks chased out
Reporter: Pegasus
At 22:00, on 1 January troops from Light Infantry Battalion 359 of Tachilek, raided the former Military Intelligence Post #24 in Pasak ward, and ordered all the inmates, some 14-15 families, to move out forthwith.
"They are the hammer and we are the anvil today," one of the suddenly homeless MI member exclaimed. "There'll be payback time for us yet."
The MI #24's former head, Maj Win Lwin, had already been recalled at the time of the incident.
Also from 31 December to 6 January, businessmen in Tachilek were summoned to the LIB 359 battalion post to be questioned about the irregular activities of the disbanded MI unit and its officers.
