Local authorities renew ID cards to the people
Local authorities are collection names of those over 18 for the renewal of their ID cards at Kehsi Township, according to S.H.A.N reporter in Southern Shan State.

On 1 March 2008, local
authorities went to collect names of the residents in Pang Say and Pak Nam
village tract for 3 villages. All are required to have ID cards, each at Kyat
1,500 ($1.2). Wanhai, the base of the ceasefire group Shan State Army (SSA)
North's First Brigade, is also reportedly included in their
program.
Those who are over 18 and working in Thailand must return and
report themselves without fail, they said.
"Local authorities tell them
that the ID cards are being issued to support the new constitutional referendum.
Currently, many people go to receive ID cards because they are cheap but they
don't understand or take interest in the constitutional referendum," said a
senior resident.
The program in Kehsi and Mongkeung Townships is run by
officials from different departments such as immigration, police, army,
municipality, forestry, health, justice, communications, bank, women's
association, agriculture, Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA),
Mother and Childcare and Foreign Affairs.
