Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) says a fight broke out between its troops and the United Wa State Army (UWSA) column providing security for dredgers digging for gold along the Salween on 2 April. The clash took place near Loi Zaktaw on the west bank of the Salween in Mongpan township. The UWSA’s domain is on the east bank in Mongton township. “It should have notified us of its presence,” said RCSS/SSA leader Yawdserk. “We could have avoided unnecessary losses and bad feelings emanating from it.” (SHAN)
