Breaking news

Despite the lull in Rangoon's offensive against Karen National Liberation Army's 7th Brigade, sporadic clashes continue to take place across the border, said Karen spokesman Saw Sarky this morning (4 November 2003).

A patrol by the Second Column of Kya-In-Seikkyi based Light Infantry Battalion 283 was ambushed by the 201st Special Battalion, commanded by Col Ner Dah Mya, at 06:30 near Mount Tojo, called by the Burmese as Bayintnaung, opposite Tak province's Phobphra district, according to him. The 5-minute long surprise attack by the Karens left 2 critically wounded and consequently forced the Burmese column to retire back to its lines.

In another ambush that took place earlier on 31 October near Toungoo, the KNLA's Second Brigade killed 2 (one a sergeant, the other a corporal) and wounded another 3 from Light Infantry Battalion 20, a newly formed unit.
