As resignations tendered by government employees who expressed unwillingness to move to the new capital to be in central Burma, the military government has issued notifications that their requests have been denied, said government sources from the border:
The order also warns that the government will take action on whoever resigns. "There will be no quitting and no pension for those who insist on quitting, it says," complained a senior clerk, who enjoys some private incomes in Rangoon.
Network Media Group had reported on 6 July that as high as 60% of government employees, particularly those from the defense ministry, had handed in their resignations. Apart from low pay, the general feeling against restrictions imposed at the Yezin capital near Pyinmana, such as total isolation from the outside world, even including their own families, during their tenure there, has been running high, it said.
The new city is ultramodern and 15 times larger than Pyinmana, according to DVB, 13 July.
