Lt-Col Khun Surh, the Shan State Army's Liaison Officer, later rectified the facts in the following way:

3-4 April
Wa troops charged SSA positions

5 April
Wa troops collected their dead, no less than 20, on the battlefield under protective fire. They were later cremated at the Hpalai base nearby.

More troops arrived at the combat zone yesterday:

• 4 six-wheelers x 25 troops

• 48 four-wheel drives x 8 troops

• 16 ten-wheelers x 40 troops

• 2 ten-wheelers (covered in canvas sheets)
