Breaking News: SSA vs Burma Army

A Shan State Army 'South' patrol on its way to intercept a heroin caravan ran into a joint Burma Army patrol at 16:10 today, said Lt-Col Gawnzuen, commander of the Loi Kawwan-based Kengtung Force.

The ensuing engagement took place near Maejok, between Chiangrai's Mae Faluang district and Shan State's Monghsat township, So far, no casualties have been reported and the battle is still in progress.

The Burmese patrol is made up of elements from Mongyawng based Light Infantry Battalion 311 and Tachilek-based Light Infantry Battalion 526.
